EMORY, Va. - The Emory & Henry College Men's and Women's Basketball team will celebrate the start of the 2019-20 season with the seventh annual Buzzmania tipoff celebration on Friday at 7 p.m. The event will take place on Bob Johnson Court in the John Rutledge King Center.

Head Coaches Jaclyn Dickens and Ben Thompson, along with their respective teams, will greet fans, participate in contests and giveaway prizes throughout the evening.

Both teams will showcase their skills by being combined into two co-ed teams that will compete against each other.

There will be a skills challenge, a three-point shootout, a dunk contest for the men's team, and a human scavenger hunt for the women's team.

Jaclyn Dickens, the head women's basketball coach, said that the event is an excellent way to kick off the season.

"Buzzmania gives us a chance to introduce our team to family and fans," said Dickens. "We have fun and friendly competitions to showcase our skills and get the crowd involved and excited for the season ahead.

Students will have the opportunity to participate in the competition as well with a unique Greek Life game of Knockout. The Emory & Henry Mercantile will be awarding one lucky student a free semester of textbooks to the winner of a special skills competition.

Ben Thompson, in his first year as men's basketball head coach, is excited to show E&H fans this year's team.

"Buzzmania is a celebration for our players and the fan base," said Thompson. "We are excited about the upcoming season, and we hope this glimpse into both teams gives the fans a glimpse of what they have to look forward to this season."

Buzzmania is free and open to the public.
