COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Emory & Henry College strength & conditioning coach Mike Caro has announced the program's NSCA All-Americans for the 2019-20 academic year. Softball senior outfielder Caitlyn Yates (Coeburn, Va.) was the women's recipient while track & field senior thrower Justin Fannon (Abingdon, Va.) earned the award on the men's side.

The recognition is based on athletic accomplishments and dedication to strength & conditioning. Their determination to improve in athletics while maintaining academic prominence is a great model for all student-athletes at E&H. The awards were officially presented at the Seventh Annual Blue & Golden Globes, held virtually over the week of May 4-8.

Yates missed the 2020 season on the softball field with an injury sustained during the fall, but her leadership role on the team during the past year contributed heavily to her selection. She not only motivated her teammates, but led by example; achieving several top-10 strength & conditioning program performances, including the College's all-time back squat ratio record for a female athlete (2.219 times her bodyweight).

Fannon finished fourth at the 2020 ODAC Indoor Championships in the shot put and was 17th in the weight throw. He broke the E&H record in the weight throw (indoor) at 13.85 meters at the Noke Elite Meet (Feb. 8) and set a new mark in the hammer throw (outdoor) at the Coastal Carolina Invitational (Mar. 13) with a performance of 39.67 meters. Fannon was a 2019 All-ODAC selection in the shot put both in indoor and outdoor competition.

About the National Strength and Conditioning Association
The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) is an international nonprofit educational association founded in 1978. Evolving from a membership of 76, the association now serves nearly 30,000 members in 52 countries. Drawing upon its vast network of members, the NSCA develops and presents the most advanced information regarding strength training and conditioning practices, injury prevention, and research findings.

Unlike any other organization, the NSCA brings together a diverse group of professionals from the sport science, athletic, allied health, and fitness industries. These individuals are all in pursuit of achieving a common goal--the utilization of proper strength training and conditioning to improve athletic performance and fitness.

Central to its mission, the NSCA provides a bridge between the scientist in the laboratory and the practitioner in the field. By working to find practical applications for new research findings in the strength and conditioning field, the association fosters the development of strength training and conditioning as a discipline and as a profession.

Headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the NSCA serves as a valuable resource for its members, the fitness industry, general public, and the media. The association provides a wide variety of resources and opportunities designed to strengthen, build, advance, and unify.
