Susan Ratliff is entering her third year as Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance at Emory & Henry College and her second as Senior Woman Administrator. It is her fifth year overall working for the College, as she served as the Head Volleyball Coach during the 1994 and 1995 seasons.

Ratliff brings more than a decade of experience working with compliance at the University of Tennessee, having served in extensive compliance and academic support leadership roles.

Ratliff is responsible for ensuring all teams comply with NCAA rules and regulations. Part of her work will be to educate, monitor, report, and enforce NCAA bylaws to the coaching staff and administration. She also provides administrative oversight for several sports as well as the Department's student-athlete success program.

As a student-athlete, Ratliff was a four-year letterwinner who served two years as a captain on the volleyball team. She was a three-time All-ODAC performer, landing twice on the first team and once on the second team, and was a three-time team Most Valuable Player. In 1992, when the Wasps played their most challenging schedule in 25 years, she was named to the All-State team. Ratliff was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame in 2007.

After graduating, Ratliff served as the head volleyball coach for two years. While coaching at the College, she also continued as an assistant volleyball and track & field coach at her alma mater, Abingdon High School. Ratliff earned a master’s degree in sports administration at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where she then found employment in the department of athletics in the areas of eligibility and operations. She later became an academic consultant for collegiate athletics. Additionally, Ratliff spent over a year working for the NCAA main office as the Assistant Director of Membership Services.

A 1993 graduate of Emory & Henry with a bachelor's degree in applied mathematics, Ratliff is also the owner of 149 Sweets, a dessert and ice cream shop in Abingdon.
