Emory & Henry's Brandon Lineberry Named To VaSID All-State First Team

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Emory & Henry College junior outfielder Brandon Lineberry has been named to the 2015 VaSID All-State College Division Baseball Team, VaSID officials announced Friday. The Hillsville, Virginia, native wins All-Virginia honors for the first time in his career.

Lineberry adds all-state honors to his résumé as he was also selected to the ABCA/Rawlings All-South Region Second Team. It is the first time since 2012 that an Emory & Henry player has been recognized by VaSID.

Lineberry led the Wasps with a .356 batting average, hit a league-high nine home runs and also led the ODAC in slugging percentage (.712) and runs batted in (37). The Carroll County High School graduate posted 12 multi-hit games and had seven multi-RBI games over the season.

In non-conference action at Greensboro College on April 1, Lineberry went five-for-six with six RBI and three runs scored. He added a pair of three-hit, five-RBI games in an eight-day span.

The University of Mary Washington saw two of its players earn major honors as Jono Haught was named State Player of the Year and Ryan Van Assche took home Pitcher of the Year accolades.

Randolph-Macon College's Rick Spiers was the VaSID Rookie of the Year while Bryan Cave of The Apprentice School was tabbed VaSID Coach of the Year.

The VaSID All-State teams are selected by sports information directors of member institutions of the Virginia Sports Information Directors across the Commonwealth of Virginia. VaSID, founded in 1983, selects teams in two divisions (University and College) for 12 sports and three single-division teams in addition to Academic All-State teams across all sports.
