GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Guilford College Baseball Team (11-8, 2-3 ODAC) scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead as it went on to win, 8-6, over visiting Emory & Henry College (4-16, 1-4 ODAC) Wednesday afternoon in Old Dominion Athletic Conference Action.

The Quakers got out to 1-0 lead after the bottom of the first inning on a double by Joe Metts but the Wasps went up 2-1 in the second thanks to a pair of RBI singles from freshmen Daulton Horne (Bristol, Va.) and Ben Sexton (Lebanon, Va.).

Guilford tied things up at two in the second and with single runs in the third and fourth made it a 4-2 advantage.

Emory & Henry got its offense going in the top of the sixth, scoring four runs on four hits and an error by the GC defense. Sexton had a two-run single to highlight the frame as the Wasps led 6-4 midway through the sixth.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Quakers notched three runs to go back ahead and added an insurance run in the eighth for the 8-6 final score.

Chuck Noble went four-for-five with three runs scored while Logan Jones had three hits, two RBI and a run scored. Jacob Roberts reached base four times with two hits and two walks as well. John Todd picked up the win in relief, pitching the final four innings as he allowed just one unearned run on two hits.

Emory & Henry was led by Sexton's two-for-four day with three RBI while Horne and freshman catcher Connor Stephenson (Stephens City, Va.) each had a pair of base knocks. Freshman Zach Shepherd (Christiansburg, Va.) suffered the loss for the Wasps, allowing four runs on five hits in two innings pitched, despite getting four of his six outs via the strikeout.

Emory & Henry will be back in action on Saturday when it travels to face off against Lynchburg College in an ODAC doubleheader. First pitch is set for noon.
