Emory & Henry’s Brandon Lineberry Adds ABCA/Rawlings All-South Accolades To His Résumé

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Emory & Henry College senior right fielder Brandon Lineberry has been selected to the 2016 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division III All-South Region Third Team by the American Baseball Coaches Association, ABCA officials announced recently.

It is the second-straight year that Lineberry has been named All-Region by the ABCA and marks the fourth time in the last five seasons that a player under Head Coach Trey McCall has earned regional honors. Centerfielder Eric Houff was selected to the All-South Region Second Team in 2013 while second baseman Josh McMillian was a first-team all-region selection after the 2012 campaign.

The Hillsville, Virginia native was tabbed to the All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference First Team after leading the Wasps in every offensive category including batting average (.344), at bats (154), hits (53), runs (34), doubles (19), home runs (10), RBI (41), walks (19), on-base percentage (.418) and slugging (.662).

Lineberry finishes his career as the season-leader in doubles (19), second in home runs in a season (10) and third in career home runs (19). He had a 17-game hitting streak between March 16 and April 16 which ranks third on the all-time list.

The award from the ABCA marks the second all-region honor for Lineberry this year. The Carroll County High School graduate was also tabbed as an All-South Region Second-Teamer by D3baseball.com after gathering All-ODAC First-Team accolades in April.
