Emory & Henry Baseball Earns Three Spots On All-ODAC Teams

FOREST, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Baseball Team has seen three of its players named to the All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference teams for a second year in a row, ODAC officials announced Friday. The announcement comes in conjunction with the start of the 2017 ODAC Baseball Tournament which is being played in Lynchburg this weekend.

Junior centerfielder Josh Macek (Concord, N.C.), sophomore first baseman Logan Forster (Christiansburg, Va.) and sophomore right fielder Ben Sexton (Lebanon, Va.) were each tabbed to the All-ODAC Third Team.

Also with the conclusion of the season, Head Coach Trey McCall has announced his team awards. Sophomore Gavin Felty (Bristol, Va.) has been named the team's Most Valuable Player, sophomore Eli Straw (Radford, Va.) earned the Dirtbag Award, Macek took home the Gold Glove Award and freshman pitcher Toby Robson (Blythewood, S.C.) was tabbed as the program's Rookie of the Year.

Macek played in 34 games this season and batted a team-high .376 with 41 hits, 23 runs scored and 16 RBI. He totaled seven extra-base hits on the year including a pair of home runs. Macek drew seven walks and stole five bases. He had a 12-game streak to start the year in which he reached base safely and finished the year on a 17-game hitting streak which is tied for third all-time.

Forster played in 28 games at first base for the Wasps, batting .295 with a .368 on-base percentage. He scored 10 runs on 18 hits and six walks while driving in nine batters. Forster put up five games with multiple hits, three games with multiple runs scored and two games with multiple RBI. The sophomore also made six appearances on the mound, going 1-1 with nine strikeouts.

Sexton saw action in 31 games in the outfield this year, playing mostly in right. He hit .363 which was good for second on the squad while slugging a team-best .513 on the season. Sexton had seven doubles, three triples and two home runs to finish the year with 19 RBI, 41 hits and 23 runs scored. He put up 13 multi-hit games, and went a season-best four-for-five with two home runs and four RBI in game two at Bridgewater on April 14.
