Methodist Baseball Defeats Emory & Henry, 12-2, Tuesday Afternoon

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Methodist University Baseball Team (15-2) scored 12 unanswered runs on its way to a 12-2 win over Emory & Henry College (2-11) Tuesday afternoon. The Monarchs extended their winning streak to 11 games with the victory.

How It Happened
Emory & Henry opened up a 2-0 lead midway through the second as senior left fielder Logan Forster (Christiansburg, Va.) drove in a run on a fielder's choice while senior shortstop Ross French (Bridgewater, Va.) drew a bases loaded walk.

The Monarchs' bats woke up in the bottom of the fourth when Clay Richardson tied the game with a single up the middle. Two runs in the sixth and three in the seventh made it a 7-2 lead for Methodist. In the eight, MU pushed five more across in the eighth highlighted by a two-run homer by Matthias Carter and a two-run double by Tucker Criswell for the final 12-2 score.

Methodist's Ricky Cameron earned the win in relief, pitching three innings of no-hit ball. Wasp sophomore J.T. Agosto (Cornelius, N.C.) took the loss, allowing four runs on seven hits with three strikeouts in five innings pitched.
