Maryville Baseball Handles Emory & Henry In Non-Conference Action Tuesday Afternoon

EMORY, Va. – The Maryville (Tenn.) College Baseball Team (16-13) pounded out 14 hits on its way to a 15-0 win over Emory & Henry College (3-21) Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action.

How It Happened
The Scots opened the scoring in the top of the first and pushed the lead to 5-0 in after three as Logan Hayes hit a two-run home run to left-centerfield. In the sixth, Mike Homan plated a pair with a double to left center, stretching the advantage to 8-0. Hayes belted a grand slam to left in the seventh to extend the lead to 12-0 and MC added three in the ninth for the final margin.

Tyler Stubbs earned the win for Maryville, pitching seven innings of two-hit baseball with three strikeouts.  Wasp senior Zach Shepherd (Christiansburg, Va.) was settled with the loss, allowing five runs on five hits with five strikeouts. Senior shortstop Ross French (Bridgewater, Va.) tallied both of E&H's hits on the afternoon.
