Covenant Baseball Beats Emory & Henry Friday Afternoon

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. – The Covenant College Baseball Team (1-0) opened the weekend series with a 16-2 win over Emory & Henry College (0-3) Friday afternoon.

How It Happened
The Scots scored three runs in the bottom of the first on a bases-clearing double by Brooks DuBose and made it 4-0 through two. Five runs in both the fifth and sixth frames pushed the margin to 14-0 while Hunter Christian capped the Covenant scoring with a two-run double in the seventh.

Emory & Henry spoiled the shutout, plating runs in the eighth and ninth. Senior left fielder Chandler Kezele (Marshall, Va.) posted a sacrifice fly in the eighth while sophomore centerfielder Connor Buchanan (Meadowview, Va.) drove in one with his single through the right side in the ninth.

Jackson Heuer struck out eight as he scattered four hits across six shutout innings on the way to the win. E&H senior Toby Robson (Blythewood, S.C.) suffered the loss, allowing four runs on three hits in three innings of work with three strikeouts.
