
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Emory & Henry College senior outfielder Jermie Greene, Jr. has been tabbed as the South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Baseball Player of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday.
Additionally, the NCBWA announced Tuesday afternoon that Greene, Jr. is the Southeast Region Player of the Week. Greene, Jr. is the second E&H baseball player to receive weekly honors from the SAC and NCBWA offices this season after senior outfielder Tyler Bradley received the same honors on March 7.
The Troutman, North Carolina native led Emory & Henry to a 2-4 week, including a South Atlantic Conference victory over Mars Hill and a win over border rival King (Tenn.) University. Greene, Jr. batted .625 over four games last week with two or more hits in each game including two doubles, a triple, and four home runs. He drove in 10 runs and scored seven runs, finishing the week with a .667 on-base percentage and a 1.625 slugging percentage.
Greene, Jr. went 3-for-5 with two doubles, three RBI and two runs scored in a 19-5 win over King on Tuesday. He also posted a 2-for-4 with two home runs, four RBI and two runs scored in a 14-11 loss to Limestone on Friday.
Emory & Henry is currently 11-32 on the year with a 3-17 mark in SAC play. The Wasps wrap up the season this week, hosting Concord University on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m., before a weekend series at Lincoln Memorial University on Friday and Saturday.
