Limestone Baseball Dispatches Emory & Henry, 10-0, In Series Opener

GAFFNEY, S.C. – The Emory & Henry College Baseball Team (1-10, 0-4 SAC) opened up its three-game South Atlantic Conference road series with a loss to Limestone University (7-6, 2-2 SAC) Friday afternoon. The Saints took the win by a 10-0 final score in just seven innings.

How It Happened
The Saints wasted no time getting on the scoreboard as they tallied four runs on five hits, highlighted by a two-RBI double from Gavin Troyer, to make it 4-0 after the first inning. Limestone added another in the third on a solo home run off the bat of Noah Love to push its lead out to 5-0. 

LU tacked on four more in the fourth inning on four hits and an error with Love providing the decisive blow once again with a two-RBI single to left. Limestone ballooned the lead out to 10-0 in the sixth inning en route to the seven-inning victory.

Colt Wilkins earned the win on the mound for the Saints as he went six innings, scattering a pair of hits and three walks while striking out six batters. Fifth-year pitcher Zach Clover (Cary, N.C.) took the loss for the Wasps as he gave up nine runs, six earned, and 11 hits while recording five strikeouts in 3 ⅔ innings. Junior relievers Jaden Jones (Chicago, Ill.) and Jacob Winstead (Salem, Ore.) combined for 3 ⅓ innings without allowing an earned run out of the bullpen. Fifth-year outfielder Jermie Greene, Jr. (Troutman, N.C.) and freshman catcher Nick Morris (Mint Hill, N.C.) contributed the lone hits for E&H.
