How It Happened
The Wasps wasted no time getting on the scoreboard as they struck for four runs in the top of the first, all with two outs. Senior designated hitter Caeden Howell (Roaring River, N.C.) got things going with a solo home run to center field, his second of the year, to put E&H on top 1-0. Junior first baseman Jacob Bebber (Taylorsville, N.C.) was hit by a pitch and senior outfielder Matt Hill (Pineville, N.C.) drew a walk. Sophomore catcher Garrison Bullock (Concord, N.C.) launched a three-run shot over the wall in left to put the Wasps up 4-0. The Cavaliers responded immediately with five runs on four hits, including a grand slam, to jump ahead 5-4 after one inning.

Emory & Henry tallied one in the top of the third on a Cavalier error and tacked on six more in the top of the fourth. Senior outfielder Triston Hensley (Covington, Va.) drew a leadoff walk and moved up on a bunt single from fifth-year second baseman Noah Mazza (Plainfield, Ill.). Senior outfielder Jared Foley (Sparta, N.C.) singled to load the bases and freshman shortstop Anthony Umbach (Harrisburg, N.C.) cleared them with a three-run triple. Howell and Bebber drew back-to-back walks to load the bases once more and Hill delivered a two-run double to make it 10-5. Bullock added an RBI groundout and the visitors from Emory held on to an 11-5 advantage. Both teams were held scoreless over the final five innings and the Wasps took the victory by the 11-5 margin.

Senior right-handed pitcher Hunter Kirkpatrick (Albany, Ore.) was dominant out of the bullpen, as he scattered six hits over six scoreless innings while fanning six batters to earn the win on the hill. Justin Snider took the loss for the Cavaliers, allowing seven runs on five hits in three innings. Bullock paced the Wasps' offense with four RBIs. Umbach finished with three hits and three RBIs while Foley and junior third baseman Steven Smith (Salisbury, N.C.) each recorded a pair of knocks.
