Emory & Henry Cheerleading Wins Grand Champion Honors In First-Ever Competition Saturday

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Emory & Henry College Cheerleading Team took the floor in its first-ever competition Saturday at the CHEERSPORT Knoxville Grand Championship. The event was held at the Knoxville Convention Center.

The Wasps won first place in the International Open Small Coed Level 6 division, winning Grand Champion honors. E&H scored an 80.8 out of 83.3 possible points, a 96.998%.

"I am beyond elated with the team and their performance today," said Head Coach Kandee Wallace. "They took the mat with injuries and having learned an entirely new routine just a week and a half ago, but persevered and came out on top. We leave today with a lot of confidence heading into our next competition in March."

Emory & Henry Cheerleading will next compete at the Cheer Ltd. Nationals at CANAM in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina over the weekend of Friday, March 16 through Sunday, March 18.

The Emory & Henry Dance Team will have its first competition on the weekend of Friday, February 9 through Sunday, February 11 at the Showstoppers Nashville Regionals at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
