SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – The Emory & Henry College Cheer & Dance Teams concluded the 2019 season over the weekend at JAMfest Sevierville, held at the Sevierville Convention Center.

Both squads claimed first-place "National Champion" finishes making it a clean sweep for the year. The two-day competition gave the Wasps a chance to perform their routines twice and gather double the feedback from the judges, who consistently score competitions with this format more harshly than single-performance events.

The Cheer Team opened the weekend with a score of 83.95% in the Coed Intermediate Level. They upped the score to 85.47% on Saturday improving their scores in the pyramid (8.1 – 8.9), toss (8.4 – 8.7) and performance (9.4 – 9.47) categories.

The Dance Team posted an 82.733% in the Hip Hop Division and increased their total to 82.867% Saturday on its way to repeating as a JAMfest "National Champion" from last spring. Judges recognized the Wasps for their technique, uniformity and overall performance.

With their National Champion finishes, the Wasps earned an invitation to The U.S. Finals Cheer & Dance. This "Super National" level competition draws its field from teams that finish in the top three at a qualifier. E&H will forgo these opportunities due to the short amount of time remaining in the semester and the approach of final exams.
