WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. –Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College got the 2014-15 season off to a start Saturday as the Dressage team competed at Wake Forest University. The "B" Team finished first out of eight teams with 17 points. The "A" Team from Emory & Henry was named Reserve Champion, earning the tiebreaker on average percentage with Virginia Tech, as both teams earned 14 points.
Appalachian State University's B Team was fourth, while Wake Forest's B and A Teams finished fifth and sixth, respectively. The University of Virginia was seventh while Appalachian State's A team was eighth.
In the first level, sophomore Nick Martino (Bel Air, Md.) was the "high-point rider of the day" earning seven points with a 70.5 percentage. Sophomore Amanda Snow (Bradford, Me.) was fourth overall in the First Level, earning three points on 66.6%.
Junior Bailey Halverson (Concord, N.C.) was an extremely-close second in the Upper Training level, earning five points with her 68.6% performance. First place in Upper Training was 68.8%. In third place, junior Emma Baltuskonis (San Antonio, Texas) finished with a 67.7% to earn four points.
The Lower Training level was paced by senior Morgan Sollenburger (Conford, N.C.), who earned seven points on a 69.3%, taking reserve "high-point rider of the day" honors in her first-ever time in the ring. Junior Karissa Donohue (Benson, N.C.) earned two points with a fifth-place finish.
In the Introductory level, junior Florence Parsley (Ruskin, Fla.) finished in first place to earn seven points on 68.8%. Senior Samantha Chambers (Chesterfield, Va.) finished eighth in the level with a strong ride on a difficult horse.
The Intermont Equestrian IDA team will next compete on Sunday, October 26 when it travels to Appalachian State.
