Intermont Equestrian Takes Sixth Place At Hollins IHSA Show Saturday

ROANOKE, Va. – Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College competed in its first Intercollegiate Horse Show Assocation event on Saturday on the campus of Hollins University. E&H claimed sixth place out of 13 schools at the event.

Senior Morgan Sollenberger (Concord, N.C.) was the reserve high-point rider of the day finishing first in Novice Equitation Over Fences and On The Flat.  Sophomore Nick Martino (Bel Air, Md.) also notched a first-place finish in Novice Equitation Over Fences and was fifth Intermediate On the Flat.

At the Open Level, Junior Emily McBee (Cartersville, Ga.) was fifth in both Over Fences and On The Flat. 

Freshman Billie Henard (Kingsport, Tenn.) was second in Novice On The Flat and turned in a fifth-place finish in Novice Over Fences. Junior Bailey Halverson (Concord, N.C.) and junior Shelton Mauzy (Gig Harbor, Wash.) came in fifth in Novice On The Flat while junior Cassie Pierz (Saddle River, N.J.) was sixth).

Junior Karissa Donohue (Benson, N.C.) was earned the top spot in Walk/Trot/Canter while senior Jen Dininger (Lawrenceville, Ga.) was second. Senior Caitlin Coston (Elwood, Ind.) was second in Walk/Trot.

Host Hollins was the top team of the day with 37 points, besting second-place Sweet Briar College by a one point. Bridgewater College was third (34 points) while the University of Virginia (29) and Randolph College (24) rounded out the top five.

The Emory & Henry ISHA Team will next compete on Saturday, November 1 on the campus of Bridgewater College.
