Intermont Equestrian Takes Top Two Spots In Home IDA Show Sunday

BRISTOL, Va. – The Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College Dressage Teams kicked off the spring portion of their schedule on Sunday with an IDA Show at the E&H Equestrian Center. The Wasps' "B" Team won the show with 18 points while the Emory & Henry "A" Team took second on 16 points.

With the win, Emory & Henry has now solidified a place for itself at the IDA National Championship on Saturday, April 25 in Westerville, Ohio.

E&H riders earned first place in three of the four training levels with junior Bailey Halverson (Concord, N.C.) taking "reserve high-point rider of the day" honors, scoring a 72.1% in the Upper Training Level, finishing second.

Sophomore Nick Martino (Bel Air, Md.) won the First Training Level with a score of 72.0 while sophomore Amanda Snow (Bradford, Me.) was fourth with a 62.6%.

In addition to Halverson's second-place finish in the Upper Training Level, junior Emma Baltuskonis (San Antonio, Texas) was third, scoring a 71.7%.

Junior Karissa Donohue (Benson, N.C.) took first place in the Lower Training Level with a score of 70.4% while senior Morgan Sollenberger (Concord, N.C.) was third with a 64.8%.

Freshman Eli Worth-Jones (Abingdon, Va.) was first in the Introductory Level, scoring a 69.7% in his first-ever show for Emory & Henry. Junior Florence Parsley (Ruskin, Fla.) was fifth in the level, posting a score of 60.3%.

Virginia Tech's Isabella Hernandez took home "high-point rider of the day" accolades with her score of 72.5% in the Upper Training Level.

The Dressage Seat Equitation competition saw E&H riders take first place in all four of the levels. Martino won the First Level while Snow was third. Halverson earned the top spot in the Upper Training Level with Baltuskonis coming in fourth. Donohue and Sollenberger went 1-2 in the Lower Training Level while Worth-Jones and Parsley were first and third, respectively, in the Introductory Level.

The Intermont Equestrian IDA Team will have its final home show of the season on Sunday, February 15. The Intercollegiate Horse Show Association team for Emory & Henry will begin spring competition on Saturday when it travels to Randolph College on Saturday and Sweet Briar College on Sunday.
