Intermont Equestrian’s Morgan Sollenberger Wins At 2015 IHSA Nationals Thursday

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College closed out the 2014-15 season with another championship Thursday. Senior Morgan Sollenberger (Concord, N.C.) won the individual Novice Equitation on the Flat title at the 2015 Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Nationals at the Eastern States Exposition Center in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Sollenberger, who finished third in the Zone 4 Championship earlier in the month, was listed as an alternate for Nationals as two riders from each zone qualify. The senior learned on Tuesday afternoon that another rider would be unable to make the trip and plans were set for Sollenberger and IHSA Coach Heather McCloud to attend the championship.

The Concord, North Carolina native and Jay M. Robinson High School graduate topped the field of 10 riders Thursday afternoon to earn Intermont Equestrian's first individual national title under Emory & Henry.

Just five days ago, Sollenberger competed as an individual at the 2015 Intercollegiate Dressage Association National Championships. She finished 12th in the Lower Training Level in individual competition as the team brought home its fifth IDA National Title and second in a row.
