Intermont Equestrian IHSA Team Competes At Bridgewater Saturday

WEYERS CAVE, Va. – The Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College IHSA Team turned in a ninth-place finish at the Bridgewater College Equestrian Center Saturday. The Wasps saw five riders place in the top three across the competition.

Senior Emily McBee (Cartersville, Ga.) won her class of Open Equitation Over Fences and was sixth in Open on the Flat. Senior Bailey Halverson (Concord, N.C.) won the Intermediate Over Fences competition while senior Morgan Sollenberger (Concord, N.C.) was fifth in the division. In Intermediate on the Flat, junior Nick Martino (Bel Air, Md.) was fifth.

The Novice Over Fences competition saw senior Karissa Donohue (Benson, N.C.) take third place while sophomore Billie Henard (Kingsport, Tenn.) was fourth. Halverson was fourth in Novice on the Flat and freshman Jane Mikusa (Crystal Lake, Ill.) finished fifth.

Junior Victoria Lustig (Galisteo, N.M.) claimed third in Walk/Trot/Canter with junior Taylor Carroll (Garner, N.C.) posting a sixth-place finish. In Walk/Trot, sophomore Galen Reyes (Hixson, Tenn.) came in third with freshman Allison Smith (Mouth of Wilson, Va.) coming in sixth in her first competition.

Randolph College was the Champion team of the day while host Bridgewater earned Reserve Champion honors.

The Intermont Equestrian IHSA Team will host the next compete on Saturday, November 14 at the Emory & Henry Equestrian Center in Bristol.
