Intermont Equestrian IHSA Team Wins In Home Opener Saturday

BRISTOL, Va. – The Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College IHSA Team captured its first team win as a member of Zone 4-Region 2 Saturday at the Emory & Henry Equestrian Center. The Wasps finished the day with 43 points, six away from a perfect score, while Randolph College was second.

In the Open divisions, senior Emily McBee (Cartersville, Ga.) posted a third-place finish Over Fences and was fourth On the Flat. Senior Bailey Halverson (Concord, N.C.) was first in the Intermediate Over Fences while junior Nick Martino (Bel Air, Md.) was third.

In Intermediate Flat, senior Morgan Sollenberger (Concord, N.C.) won her draw while Martino was second. Senior Karissa Donohue (Benson, N.C.) posted a win in Novice Over Fences while sophomore Billie Henard (Kingsport, Tenn.) turned in a second-place finish.

Sophomore Jane Mikusa (Crystal Lake, Ill.) won Novice Equitation on the Flat with Henard and Halverson each coming in second in their respective draws.

The Walk/Trot/Canter division saw sophomore Eli Worth-Jones (Abingdon, Va.) earn another win for E&H while junior Hannah Phillips (Virginia Beach, Va.) and junior Taylor Carroll (Garner, N.C.) finishing third and fifth, respectively. Freshman Ana Rampy (Alexandria, Va.) was fifth in Beginner W/T/C.

Freshman Allison Smith (Mouth of Wilson, Va.) won the Walk/Trot class while freshman Taylor McMichael (Lexington, Va.) as third.

Emory & Henry has completed its IHSA schedule for the fall semester and will be back in action at Randolph College on Saturday, February 13. The Wasps have a pair of IDA shows remaining before the Winter Break and will show at Wake Forest University on Sunday.
