Intermont Equestrian IHSA Team Takes Fifth At Bridgewater Over The Weekend

WEYERS CAVE, Va. – The Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College IHSA Team turned in a fifth-place finish over the weekend at a show hosted by Bridgewater. The Wasps saw two of their riders qualify for the regional championship, a first-place finish and a trio of reserve champion rides.

Senior Emily McBee (Cartersville, Ga.) competed in the Open Division, finishing in fourth place On the Flat. In Intermediate competition, senior Bailey Halverson (Concord, N.C.) qualified for regionals with second-place finish Over Fences. Junior Nick Martino (Bel Air, Md.) was third in Intermediate Fences and competed On the Flat. Senior Morgan Sollenberger (Concord, N.C.) also competed at Intermediate.

At the Novice level, freshman Michaela Glenn (Kingsport, Tenn.)  was fourth On the Flat while senior Shelton Mauzy (Gig Harbor, Wash.) came in sixth. Senior Karissa Donohue (Benson, N.C.) notched a reserve-champion finish Over Fences while junior Odessa Thacker (Yorktown, Va.) also competed.

In Walk/Trot/Canter, junior Taylor Carroll (Garner, N.C.) qualified for regionals with a second-place finish while sophomore Eli Worth-Jones (Abingdon, Va.) placed fourth. Freshman Taylor McMichael (Lexington, Va.) won her flight in Walk/Trot.

Sweet Briar College finished first on the day while host Bridgewater was named the Reserve Champion.

Emory & Henry will next compete at Hollins University on Saturday, February 27.
