Intermont Equestrian IHSA Team Finishes The Regular Season Fourth In The Region

The Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College IHSA Team completed its regular season competition with two finals shows last weekend. The Wasps started the weekend off with an eighth-place finish at Hollins University on Saturday and took fourth place at the University of Virginia on Sunday.

ROANOKE, Va. – Saturday at Hollins, E&H earned a first-place finish, and three more top three's to finish eighth out of 13 teams competing.

Senior Emily McBee (Cartersville, Ga.) was third in Open Equitation on the Flat and claimed fifth in Open Over Fences.

At the Intermediate Level, junior Nick Martino (Bel Air, Md.) won his division On the Flat, qualifying himself for regional competition, and took sixth Over Fences. Senior Morgan Sollenberger (Concord, N.C.) was second on the flat.

In Novice competition, senior Karissa Donohue (Benson, N.C.) was fifth Over Fences while senior Shelton Mauzy (Gig Harbor, Wash.) was fifth Over Fences and sixth On the Flat.

Sophomore Eli Worth-Jones (Abingdon, Va.) finished sixth in Walk/Trot/Canter and in the Walk/Trot class, junior Ana-Belen Gomez (Irving, Texas) was second while freshman Taylor McMichael (Lexington, Va.) came in fifth.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Emory & Henry competed on Sunday at UVA, finishing fourth as a team. The Wasps had pair of first place rides on the day to lead their results.

McBee was sixth in both Open Flat and Open Fences. Sollenberger came in fourth in Intermediate Flat while Martino was fourth in Intermediate Fences.

Donohue earned champion honors in Novice Over Fences while Worth-Jones was the champion in Walk/Trot/Canter.

With the regular season now complete, the Wasps will look to the Zone 4-Region 2 Championship on Saturday, March 19. Randolph College will serve as the host for the event.
