Intermont Equestrian IHSA Team Competes At Zone 4-Region 2 Championship Saturday

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Seven different riders competed for Emory & Henry College on Saturday at the Zone 4-Region 2 Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Championship on the campus of Randolph College. Three different riders qualified for the Zone 4 Championship in April based on a top two finish.

In Novice Over Fences, E&H claimed the top three spots. Senior Morgan Sollenberger (Concord, N.C.) won the class while junior Nick Martino (Bel Air, Md.) earned reserve champion honors. Senior Karissa Donohue (Benson, N.C.) took third place, missing Zones by just one place.

Sophomore Galen Reyes (Hixson, Tenn.) took the champion spot in Walk/Trot, and will compete at the Zone Championship as well.

Senior Bailey Halverson (Concord, N.C.) finished sixth in Intermediate Over Fences and seventh in Novice on the Flat. Martino posted an eighth-place finish in Intermediate on the Flat to go along with his win in Novice Fences. Junior Taylor Carroll (Garner, N.C.) was sixth in Walk/Trot/Canter while sophomore Billie Henard (Kingsport, Tenn.) also competed in Novice on the Flat.

The Wasps will next compete on Saturday, April 9 when they travel to Fredericksburg, Virginia for the Zone 4 Championship. The show will be hosted by the University of Mary Washington at Hazelwild Farm.
