CHRISTIANSBURG, Va./PFAFFTOWN, N.C. – The Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College IDA Team competed in its final two Region H shows of the year over the weekend, putting up an impressive showing once again. The Wasps took second place at Virginia Tech on Saturday and won the day on Sunday at Wake Forest.

With six championships, a reserve championship and a third-place finish in eight shows this year, Intermont Equestrian is in the running for a third-straight IDA National Championship. Last year's IDA national title was the first national championship of any kind for an E&H athletic program.

On Saturday, senior Bailey Halverson (Concord, N.C.) posted a championship finish (76.6%) in First-Level competition as an individual while junior Nick Martino (Bel Air, Md.) was second (74.2%). In the Upper Training Level, senior Morgan Sollenberger (Concord, N.C.) finished first (77.9%) and also collected Reserve High-Point Rider of the Day accolades.

At the Lower Training Level, sophomore Eli Worth-Jones (Abingdon, Va.) was fourth (71.5%), while junior Sierra Davenport (Chilhowie, Va.) took reserve-champion honors (77.5%) at the Introductory Level.

As a team, E&H scored 19 points, finishing one place off of a perfect score.

Sunday at Wake Forest, Martino turned in a reserve-champion finish (66.3%) at First Level. Senior Karissa Donohue (Benson, N.C.) and Halverson were third (66.1%) and fourth (65.2%), respectively, as individuals.

Sollenberger was second (67.9%) in the Upper Training Level while Worth-Jones placed third (68.0%) in Lower Training. Davenport won her Introductory ride (64.7%) to give the Wasps a win and two runners-up on the day.

As a team, the Wasps earned Champion honors, scoring 17 points in the competition.

The IDA National Championship will take place in Long Valley, New Jersey over the weekend of Saturday, April 23 and Sunday, April 24. Individual championships will be contested on Saturday while the team title will be decided on Sunday. Centenary (N.J.) will serve as the host for this year's championship.
