Intermont Equestrian IDA Team Wins At Virginia Tech Saturday

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. – The Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College IDA Team saw its first competition since November on Saturday, showing at Virginia Tech. The Wasps finished first out of the six competing teams and swept the individual awards in the victory.

The Basics
TEAM PLACE
– 1st/6 - 13 points 
LOCATION – Christiansburg, Virginia; Flanagan Stables

First Level
- Senior Mandy Snow (Bradford, Maine) won the test with a score of 72.4% to start the day, riding as an individual.
- Senior Nick Martino (Bel Air, Md.) was third for the team, scoring a 71.3%

Upper Training Level
- Freshman Katie Maharis (Howard Beach, N.Y.) and junior Eli Worth-Jones (Abingdon, Va.) each turned in a ride of 70.4% to tie for second in the level. Maharis, who competed as an individual, won the tiebreaker to take second while Worth-Jones was third, scoring for the team.

Lower Training Level
- Senior Sierra Davenport (Chilhowie, Va.), riding individually, posted a 75.9% to win the level.
- Senior Taylor Carroll (Garner, N.C.) finished second on a 73.9%, scoring for the team.

Introductory Level
- Sophomore Emily Johnston (Gloucester, Va.) finished fifth with a score of 64.7%, clinching the victory for the Wasps.

The Awards
- The Wasps tied for first place with host Virginia Tech as each team earned 13 points during the competition. The tie was broken on scoring average with Emory & Henry taking the day by 0.434 percentage points.
- E&H swept the individual awards on the day as Davenport earned High-Point Rider of the Day honors with her win in the Lower Training Level. Carroll took home Reserve High-Point Rider of the Day accolades.

Next Up
- Emory & Henry will be back in action on Sunday when it hosts an IDA Show at the Emory & Henry Equestrian Center.
- Competition will begin at 10:00 a.m.
