Intermont Equestrian IDA Team Clinches 17th-Straight Region Title With A Win Sunday

BRISTOL, Va. – The Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College IDA Team clinched its 17th-straight Region H Championship on Sunday with a runaway victory at home. The Wasps won all four levels and also earned the region's automatic qualification for the IDA National Championship.

The Basics
TEAM PLACE – 1st/4 - 21 points 
LOCATION – Bristol, Virginia – Emory & Henry College Equestrian Center

First Level
- Senior Nick Martino (Bel Air, Md.) started the day off with a win for the Wasps, putting up a 74.118% for the team.
- Senior Mandy Snow (Bradford, Maine) was second in the First Level test with a score of 69.265%, riding as an individual.

Upper Training Level
- Junior Eli Worth-Jones (Abingdon, Va.) scored an even 75.000% to take the top spot in the Upper Training Level.
- Freshman Katie Maharis (Howard Beach, N.Y.) was third on 71.136%, as an individual.

Lower Training Level
- Senior Taylor Carroll (Garner, N.C.) posted a 74.783% in her Lower Training Level ride to earn the win for the team.
- Senior Sierra Davenport (Chilhowie, Va.), riding individually, posted a 71.304% to take reserve-champion honors.

Introductory Level
- Sophomore Emily Johnston (Gloucester, Va.) made it a clean sweep for E&H with her win in the Introductory Level (69.688%).
- Senior Hannah Phillips (Virginia Beach, Va.) was third (66.250%) while junior Galen Reyes (Hixson, Tenn.) placed fourth (65.938%).

The Awards
- Emory & Henry's 21 points were a perfect score in IDA competition as it was named the show's champion team.
- Virginia Tech was the reserve champion team with 12 points while Radford University was third (two points) and Ferrum College was fourth (one point).
- E&H swept the individual awards for the third-straight show. Worth-Jones earned High-Point Rider of the Day honors with his Upper Training Level victory. Carroll took home Reserve High-Point Rider of the Day accolades for the second day in a row after winning the Lower Training Level.

Next Up
- Emory & Henry will conclude the IDA regular season on Saturday, April 1 when it travels to Bridgewater College.
