Intermont Equestrian Opens The Season At Preseason Tournament Of Champions Saturday

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College IHSA Team got the 2017-18 season off to a start on Saturday, competing in the first of four Tournament of Champions Series shows. The Wasps, who entered two teams as Team Blue and Team Gold, finished 11th and 12th, respectively.

The Basics
TEAM BLUE PLACE – 11th/14
TEAM GOLD PLACE – 12th/14
LOCATION – Lynchburg, Virginia – Randolph Riding Center

Team Blue
- Junior Francisco Caba-Guil (Almería, SPAIN) was fourth in Open Equitation Over Fences while taking seventh in Open Flat.
- Sophomore Madison McKinsey (Waynesboro, Va.) finished fourth in Intermediate Over Fences.
- Sophomore Bobbie Jo Adsit (Montpelier, Va.) was sixth in Intermediate on the Flat and fifth in Novice Fences.
- Freshman Allison Dayley (Ruther Glen, Va.) won the class in Novice Equitation on the Flat.
- Sophomores Cara Brooks (Suwanee, Ga.) and Virginia Jahoda (Waynesboro, Va.) were both sixth in Walk/Trot/Canter Equitation and Walk/Trot Equitation, respectively.
- Sophomore Emily Trice (Gainesville, Ga.) competed in Low Medals and was fifth.

Team Gold
- Sophomore Maddie Bonner (Powhatan, Va.) was sixth in Open on the Flat while senior Sydney Casady (Harriman, Tenn.) was seventh on Open Over Fences.
- Senior Jane Mikusa (Crystal Lake, Ill.) took second in Intermediate on the Flat and fifth in Novice Fences.
- Bonner was seventh in her Intermediate Fences class while senior Eli Worth-Jones (Abingdon, Va.) notched a fourth-place finish in Novice Equitation on the Flat.
- Sophomore Catherine Hill (Roanoke, Va.) placed fourth in Walk/Trot/Canter while sophomore Jordan Pennington (Parrott, Va.) was seventh in Walk/Trot.
- Worth-Jones notched a third-place finish as the Gold representative in Low Medals.

The Winners
- Savannah College of Art & Design's Team "Bee-lieve" was the team champion while Randolph's Team "S. R." was Reserve Champion.
- SCAD's Tess Mroczka won the Low Medals competition.

Up Next
- The next Tournament of Champions Series event is set for Saturday, December 2 in Long Valley, New Jersey with Centenary University serving as host.
- Emory & Henry will next compete on Sunday, September 24 when the IDA Team opens its season at Virginia Tech.
