Intermont Equestrian IHSA Team Wins At Home Show Saturday

Emory & Henry won 11 of their 18 rides as they took the team title at home Saturday.

BRISTOL, Va. – The Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College IHSA Team picked up its fourth win of the year on Saturday at home. The Wasps posted 11 wins and two second-place finishes in 18 rides during the competition.

The Basics

VENUE – Emory & Henry Equestrian Center

The Results
- Senior Sydney Casady (Harriman, Tenn.) posted a third-place finish in Open Over Fences while junior Francisco Caba-Guil (Almería, SPAIN) was fifth.
- Senior Billie Henard (Kingsport, Tenn.) won her section of Open on the Flat while Caba-Guil added another fifth-place finish.
- Henard also took first in Intermediate Over Fences while sophomores Maddie Bonner (Powhatan, Va.) and Bobbie Jo Adsit (Montpelier, Va.) added second-place finishes.
- Adsit and senior Jane Mikusa (Crystal Lake, Ill.) posted wins in Intermediate Equitation on the Flat.
- In Novice Fences, Mikusa, sophomore Mya Lizzadro (Naperville, Ill.) and freshman Allison Dayley (Ruther Glen, Va.) swept the three sections with victories.
- Sophomore Katie Maharis (Howard Beach, Queens, N.Y.) and Dayley picked up wins at Novice on the Flat while sophomore Carley Gunnell (Purcellville, Va.) was sixth.
- Sophomore Catherine Hill (Roanoke, Va.) won at Walk/Trot/Canter while freshman Zachary Will (Nanjemoy, Md.) was fourth.
- Sophomore Virginia Jahoda (Waynesboro, Va.) closed out the day with a win at Walk/Trot.

The Awards
- The Wasps swept the individual awards for the third time in four shows.
- Dayley was named High-Point Rider of the Day while Mikusa took Reserve High-Point Rider of the Day laurels.

Next Up
- Emory & Henry has completed its schedule of shows for the fall 2017 semester and will be back in action following the Christmas Holiday.
