Intermont Equestrian IHSA Competes In High Point Doubleheader Over The Weekend

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College IHSA Team posted first- and third-place finishes over two days of competition at High Point University on Saturday and Sunday. Over the course of the weekend, the Wasps posted 27 top-three finishes.

The Basics

Saturday
-  Junior Bobbie Jo Adsit (Montpelier, Va.) won her classes in Open Equitation on the Flat and Over Fences. Senior Francisco Caba-Guil (Almería, SPAIN) finished second in Open Flat and fourth in Open Over Fences while senior Sydney Casady (Harriman, Tenn.) was third Over Fences.
- In Intermediate Over Fences, freshman Kylee Bucholz (Cornelius, N.C.) won her class while freshman Abby McCoy (Cogan Station, Pa.) was third.
- Freshman Madelyn Lowe (Red Lion, Pa.) was fourth in intermediate flat while freshman Remy Tait (Bainbridge Island, Wash.) was fifth.
- Freshman Avery Dewan (Virginia Beach, Va.) won at Novice Over Fences while junior Gwenyth Stromdahl (Fernandina Beach, Fla.) and junior Mya Lizzadro (Naperville, Ill.) were second and third, respectively.
- In Novice on the Flat, freshman Makalyn Williams (Granville, Ohio) was third and freshman Emilie Fink (Jamesport, N.Y.) was sixth.
- Junior Virginia Jahoda (Waynesboro, Va.) was third in Walk/Trot/Canter Equitation and senior Delaney Oursler (Hickory, N.C.) took fourth.
- Freshmen Cheyenne Hicks (Horsepen, Va.) and Virginia Lee (Nashville, Tenn.) placed first in their classes of Walk/Trot.
- Adsit earned Reserve High-Point Rider of the Day honors as E&H finished third as a team.

Sunday
- On Sunday, Emory & Henry responded to make it four wins in five shows. Casady was second in Open Fences while Caba-Guil and Adsit took fourth and fifth, respectively.
- Adist won at Open Flat while Caba-Guil was second.
- In intermediate competition, McCoy won Over Fences while junior Maddie Bonner (Powhatan, Va.) was second. Bonner and freshman Josie Sumner (Hampshire, Ill.) both took first place in Intermediate on the Flat.
- Williams and Fink were both first in Novice Over Fences while Sumner finished fourth. Fink also won at Novice Flat while Williams was third.
- In Walk/Trot/Canter, Becca Pagnini (Beaverdam, Va.) with Oursler taking second.
- Hicks was second in Walk/Trot as Lee was fifth.
- Reserve High-Point Rider of the Day accolades went to Fink, her first collegiate major award.

- E&H will conclude the fall portion of its IHSA schedule on Saturday, November 17 when it hosts a Zone 4 – Region 5 Show at the Emory & Henry Equestrian Center.
