Intermont Equestrian IHSA Team Wins Zone 4 Championship Saturday

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College IHSA Team captured its second Zone 4 Championship in the last three years Saturday at The Barracks. With their victory, the Wasps have qualified for the IHSA National Finals as a team. The University of Virginia served as the host of this season's zone championship.

Team Competition
- Senior Francisco Caba-Guil (Almería, SPAIN) won at Open Over Fences with junior Bobbie Jo Adsit (Montpelier, Va.) taking first in Open on the Flat.
- In Intermediate on the Flat, freshman Hayden Wilkes (Shamong, N.J.) was second while freshman Abby McCoy (Cogan Station, Pa.) took fifth in Intermediate Fences.
- Freshman Emilie Fink (Jamesport, N.Y.) won at Novice on the Flat while freshman Avery Dewan (Virginia Beach, Va.) finished second.
- In Walk/Trot/Canter Equitation, freshman Becca Pagnini (Beaverdam, Va.) was third while freshman Devynn Osborne (Fort Blackmore, Va.) claimed the victory at Walk/Trot.
- Joining Emory & Henry in representing Zone 4 at the National Finals is Sweet Briar College which was the Reserve Champion team.

Individual Competition
- Adsit was third in Open Over Fences while Caba-Guil took 4th in Open on the Flat.
- Junior Maddie Bonner (Powhatan, Va.) finished 10th in Intermediate Over Fences and senior Delaney Oursler (Hickory, N.C.) took sixth in Walk/Trot/Canter.

Next Up
- Emory & Henry will next compete in the IHSA National Finals between Thursday, May 2 and Saturday, May 4.
- The New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, New York will serve as the host of this year's finals.
