Intermont Equestrian IDA Team Wins 19th-Straight Region H Championship

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. – The Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College IDA Team punched its ticket to the Intercollegiate Dressage Association National Championship by solidifying its 19th-straight Region "H" Championship at Virginia Tech on Sunday. The Wasps finished fourth in Sunday's show.

First Level
Senior Eliza Ginn (Alpharetta, Ga.) was fourth in the First Level on a score of 70.00%.

Upper Training Level
Junior Bobbie Jo Adsit (Montpelier, Va.) claimed third in the level scoring a 74.80% for the team while senior Delaney Oursler (Hickory, N.C.) finished fifth in the test (71.60%) as an individual.

Lower Training Level
Sophomore Delaney Dunne (Kingsport, Tenn.) took fourth with a ride of 71.70%.

Introductory Level
Freshman Kaitlin Meredith (Mashpee, Mass.) posted a fourth-place finish of her own with a score of 68.40%.

The Awards
Virginia Tech won the show with a score of 17, edging out Bridgewater College by one point. Appalachian State University's Jessica Reimer was named High-Point Rider of the Day with her win in Upper Training while VT's Mackenzie Krason was Reserve High-Point Rider of the Day.

National Qualifiers
As the region champion in the Upper Training Level, Oursler will compete on individual day at the IDA National Championship. Junior Gwenyth Stromdahl (Fernandina Beach, Fla.) will ride in the inaugural Dressage Seat Equitation Championship, representing the Wasps in the Lower Training Level.

Emory & Henry still has a chance to place additional riders in the national championship show as the "wild card" contenders consisting of the season reserve champions from each of the country's regions will be evaluated to complete the field. The "wild card" qualifiers will be announced by the IDA after the all regions have completed their regular seasons.

Up Next
Emory & Henry will represent Region H at the IDA National Championship later this month which will be held at the George M. Humphrey Equestrian Center in Mentor, Ohio. Lake Erie College will serve as host. The three-day show will run from Friday, April 26 through Sunday, April 28.
