Intermont Equestrian At Emory & Henry Set To Enter Championship Season This Weekend

Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College

BRISTOL, Va. – The Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College teams will compete in a trio of national championship shows over the next two weekends. The program currently boasts 20 team national titles and 32 individual championships.

Intercollegiate Dressage Association
The IDA National Championships will be held at Lake Erie College's George M. Humphrey Equestrian Center in Mentor, Ohio. The championship will be split into four parts, the quiz challenge, the dressage seat equitation championship, the individual championship and team championship which will happen on Thursday evening, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

E&H's representatives for the quiz challenge will be senior Eliza Ginn (Alpharetta, Ga.), freshman Emily Dougherty (Sandy Hook, N.J.), and sophomore Kaitlin Meredith (Mashpee, Mass.).

The Wasps won the Region H Championship for the 19th-straight year, earning the team automatic qualification for nationals. Emory & Henry will have three riders competing on individual day. Senior Delaney Oursler (Hickory, N.C.) was the Upper Training Level Region Champion. E&H also saw two riders finish as region reserve champions in Upper Training and Lower Training, respectively. Based on the IDA Wildcard tiebreaker, they will also compete at the national show.

IHSA Metropolitan Equitation Invitational at Longines Masters - New York
Senior Francisco Caba-Guil (Almeria, SPAIN) is one of 25 riders who compete in the Cacchione Cup and Open divisions of the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association to be invited to show at this inaugural event. Riders will compete over fences with the top 12 returning to be judged on the flat on horses they draw sight-unseen.

This event will take place at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in the Uniondale neighborhood of Hempstead, New York.

The IHSA National Finals will take place at The New York State Fairgrounds Expo Center in Syracuse, New York. Competition will run from Thursday, May 2 through Sunday, May 5 with individual and team Hunter/Jumper and Western disciplines being shown at different times over the weekend.
