Intermont Equestrian IHSA Team Opens The Season With A Win Saturday

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College IHSA Team got the 2022-23 season started on Saturday with a convincing win at High Point University. The Wasps earned 10 blue ribbons on 13 rides on the day.

The Results
- Fifth-year Hayden Wilkes (Shamong, N.J.) won at both Open Equitation Over Fences and Open on the Flat.
- Sophomore Mia Sisson (Warren, R.I.) picked up wins at Intermediate Over Fences and Intermediate on the Flat while sophomore Emma Gurley (Rutherfordton, N.C.) was first in Intermediate Fences. Sophomore Ava Harry (Wake Forest, N.C.) notched a reserve champion finish in Intermediate Flat.
- In Limit Over Fences, sophomores Caroline Chichester (Blythewood, S.C.) and Amelia Moore (Klamath Falls, Ore.) earned blue ribbons.
- Limit on the Flat competition saw sophomore Kendall Madison (Westtown, N.Y.) pick up a win as sophomore Madison Couperthwait (Otego, N.Y.) was third.
- Senior Holly Orfield (Johnson City, Tenn.) won her class in Novice with junior Skyler Shaw (Orangeville, Pa.) placing sixth.
- Freshman Laney Stogdale (New Hope, Va.) grabbed a win at Introductory.

The Awards
- Wilkes was the High-Point Rider of the Day thanks to her two wins at Open.
- Sisson claimed Reserve High-Point Rider of the Day accolades after her performance at Intermediate.
