TOWSON, Md. – The Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College has an opportunity to win its third-straight Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association national title. The Wasps finished as the Zone 4 Reserve Champion Saturday at Goucher College, punching their ticket to the IHSA National Championships for the fourth time in the previous five seasons.

Team Competition
The Wasps earned four top-two finishes as they took the reserve championship for the Zone. Freshman Derek Holt (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) started the day with a second-place finish in Open Over Fences while junior Lindsay Shaw (Newark, Del.) was fourth on the Flat.
In Intermediate competition, sophomore Emma Gurley (Rutherfordton, N.C.) picked up a win Over Fences with sophomore Mia Sisson (Warren, R.I.) taking third on the Flat.
Sophomore Sierra Smith (Olathe, Kan.) won at Novice Over Fences with sophomore Kendall Madison (Westtown, N.Y.) taking second place on the Flat.
Sophomore Maddie Whitley (Stuarts Draft, Va.) posted a fourth-place finish in Novice while sophomore Hope Christensen (Moroni, Utah) took fifth place in Introductory.
Individual Competition
Recent graduate Hayden Wilkes (Shamong, N.J.) returned to the ring to compete in the Cacchione Cup, taking fourth place, missing the national championship by one spot.
Shaw was fifth in Open on the Flat as an individual while senior Holly Orfield (Johnson City, Tenn.) took eighth in Novice.
Next Up
Emory & Henry will next compete in the IHSA National Championship between Thursday, May 4 and Sunday, May 7. The Kentucky Horse Park will be the host of this year's national show.
