Intermont Equestrian IHSA Team Has Strong Weekend At High Point To Start The Season

Intermont Equestrian IHSA team after Saturday's win at High Point.

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College IHSA Team got the 2023-24 season started with a double-header weekend, starting on Saturday with a win at High Point University. The Wasps completed the weekend as the reserve champion team on Sunday.

Saturday

The Basics

The Results
- Junior Emma Pell (Winchester, Va.) won at Open Equitation Over Fences and sophomore Sara Bender (Camp Hill, Pa.) started her season off with a fifth in Open on the Flat.
- Sophomore Abigail Williamson (Sacramento, Calif.) picked up fourth at Intermediate Over Fences, and junior Emma Pell (Winchester, Va.) grabbed a second on the flat.
- In Limit Over Fences, junior Sierra Smith (Olathe, Kan.) started her season with a win and junior Grace Reynen  (Mission Viejo, Calif.) snagged a fourth-place finish in her IHSA debut.
- Limit on the Flat competition saw junior Kendall Madison (Westtown, N.Y.) pick up a win as Smith was third was third.
- Junior Maddie Whitley (Stuarts Draft, Va.) won her class in Novice with senior Alex Osborne (Charlottesville, Va.) starting his senior season campaign with a third.

The Awards
- Pell was the High-Point Rider of the Day after answering a question to break the tie.

- Junior Emma Pell (Winchester, Va.) won at Open Equitation Over Fences and on the flat to start out the day.
- Junior Kendall Madison (Westtown, N.Y.) earned top honors at Intermediate Over Fences, and Sophomore Abigail Williamson (Sacramento, Calif.) grabbed a fourth on the flat.
- In Limit Over Fences, freshmen Isabella Oglesby (Virginia Beach, Va.) and Isabelle Young (Chesapeake, Va.) posted second- and fifth-place finishes respectively.
- Limit on the Flat competition saw juniors Grace Reynen (Mission Viejo, Calif.) snag the blue as Madison was fourth.
- Junior Maddie Whitley (Stuarts Draft, Va.) posted another win Novice with senior Alex Osborne (Charlottesville, Va.) grabbing another third.
- Introductory competition saw freshman Kaleb Elswick (Big Rock, Va.) place third at first IHSA competition.

The Awards
- Pell was the High-Point Rider of the Day after her wins in Open fences and Open Flat.
