Intermont Equestrian IDA Team Wins 22nd Straight Region H Championship Over The Weekend

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. – The Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College IDA Team won the Region H Championship for the 22nd consecutive year, rounding out the regular season with a doubleheader at Virginia Tech. The Wasps placed first out of four competing teams on Saturday and second on Sunday.

Saturday's Basics
TEAM PLACE –1st/4
LOCATION – Christiansburg, Virginia
VENUE – Flanigan Stables

First Level
Senior Lindsay Shaw (Newark, Del.) got the day rolling with a fourth-place finish.

Upper Training Level
Sophomore Abigail Williamson (Sacramento, Calif.) won the division, securing High-Point Rider of the Day, followed closely by senior Kiley McGuinness (West Chester, Pa.) who was second in the division, earning Reserve High-Point Rider.

Lower Training Level
Senior Reme Sharp (Strasburg, Va. ) added another win to his resume.

Introductory Level
Sophomore Brenna Looney (Bridgewater, Va.) was first while sophomore Lola Hare (Montpelier, Vt.) was second to round out the testing portion of the day. 

Saturday Awards
The Wasps won the show with 19 points, while Virginia Tech was the Reserve High-Point team, scoring a team total of 13 points. Williamson was High Point Rider of the Day, while McGuinness was Reserve High Point Rider of the Day.

TEAM PLACE – 2nd/4
LOCATION – Christiansburg, Virginia
VENUE – Flanigan Stables

First Level
Senior Lindsay Shaw (Newark, Del.) got the day started, earning second place. Her performances over the season secured her an individual spot at nationals, as she was the overall champion of the division for the year regionally. 

Upper Training Level
Senior Kiley McGuinness (West Chester, Pa.) was second, securing her spot to nationals with the Reserve Champion title for the division, while sophomore Abigail Williamson (Sacramento, Calif.) was fourth.

Senior Eleanor Boyle (Boyds, Md.) was the champion of the division.

Lower Training Level
Senior Reme Sharp (Strasburg, Va. ) was High-Point Rider of the Day, winning his division and qualifying him for Nationals as an individual. 

Introductory Level
Sophomore Brenna Looney (Bridgewater, Va.) was first, while sophomore Lola Hare (Montpelier, Vt.) was fifth to round out the day.

Sunday Awards
Virginia Tech won the show with 19 points, while the Wasps were the Reserve High-Point team, scoring 15 points. Sharp was named High-Point Rider of the Day for his performance in Lower Training.

Dressage Seat Equitation

Junior Ava Harry (Wake Forest, N.C.) rode to a third-place finish followed by a fourth-place finish.

In Upper Training, sophomore Abigail Williamson (Sacramento, Calif.)  earned a blue ribbon and another podium finish, taking third. This qualified her for the National Championship, she was the Champion of the division. Sophomore Megan Conway (Chittenango, N.Y. ) earned second in both classes, securing her ticket to Nationals as Reserve Champion in the Division. 

In Lower Training, freshman Lacy Barlow (New Church, Va.) was the Champion of the division, punching her ticket to Nationals. 

Introductory saw freshman Ren Taylor (Hillsboro, Ore.) ride to first and second-place finishes. Sophomore Elly Gurshpun (Henrico, Va.) posted a second-place finish, pointing her up to the next division for the fall season.

Up Next
Emory & Henry's IHSA Team hosts the last regular season IHSA competition on Saturday and the Zone 4-Region 5 Championships on Sunday. The IDA team will attend Nationals April 24-27 in Tryon, North Carolina, hosted by Tryon International Equestrian Center.
