BRISTOL, Va. – The Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College IHSA Team saw four of its seven competing riders earn spots in the Zone 4 Championships Sunday at the Zone 4-Region 5 Finals. The show was held at the Emory & Henry College Equestrian Center.

The Basics

The Resul
- Junior Emma Pell (Winchester, Va.) won the region championship at Open Equitation on the Flat with her mount Disco and the championship at Over Fences riding GiGi.
- Junior Sierra Smith (Olathe, Kan.) won the regional title at Limit Equitation Over Fences, earning the championship riding Tanner.
- Senior Reme Sharp (Strasburg, Va.) won the Reserve Championship at Limit Equitation on the Flat aboard Henri, while senior Kendall Madison (Westtown, N.Y.) was third on Gena.
- Novice Flat saw junior Maddie Whitley (Stuarts Draft, Va.) take the regional championship with her draw Irish. Senior Alex Osborne (Charlottesville, Va.) earned a fourth-place finish on Will while senior Skyler Shaw (Orangeville, Pa.) had a strong showing aboard Tanner. 

Advancing to Zones
- By virtue of its Zone 4-Region 5 regular season title, Emory & Henry will compete as a team at the Zone 4 Championship for a spot at the IHSA National Championship.
- In addition to competing in both Open Over Fences and Open Flat, Pell will be the Z4-R5 rider for the Cacchione Cup, aiming to earn a spot at nationals and a shot at being High-Point Hunt Seat rider.
- Smith will compete in Limit Equitation over Fences, while Sharp qualified for Limit Flat and Whitley qualified for Novice Flat.

Next Up
- Intermont Equestrian will next compete at the Zone 4 Finals on Saturday, April 6. Sweet Briar College will serve as the host.
