HEROSports Names Tre'von Lightfoot One of Top Five Cornerbacks in NCAA Division III

EMORY, Va. - Junior cornerback Tre'von Lightfoot was named one of the top five cornerbacks in NCAA Division III by HEROSports on Wednesday, November 3.   The story, which was written by Meghan Gescher, highlights Lightfoot's statistics, which compare favorably to others at his position.

The junior continues to lead the country in passes defended with 17 on the year.  Lightfoot also has picked off four passes, including returning one for a 98-yard touchdown against Catholic on October 24. That interception put the Cardinals' potential go-ahead drive to a halt and gave the Wasps a 37-24 advantage late in the fourth quarter. The play was selected as the ODAC Play of the Week in the weekly fan vote and was among the finalists for National Play of the Week as voted on by the writers at D3football.com.

The Big Island, Virginia native has also tallied 36 tackles on the year, with two of them for a loss.  Lightfoot stated, "I credit my playing abilities to my Lord and savior Jesus Christ, because without him I am nothing."

Lightfoot has also been dynamic in the kick return game as well.  He currently averages 30.1 yards per return.  That mark would be good for the top ten in the country if he qualified.

The Wasps (5-3, 3-2 ODAC) travel to play Shenandoah University (4-4, 1-4 ODAC) on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in Winchester, Virginia.
