Quintin Hunter is entering his second year as the Head Football Coach and eighth overall at Emory & Henry University. Quintin Hunter served as the Interim Head Football Coach at the beginning of the 2024 season and was named Head Coach after a victory in the Southwest Virginia Bowl against rival The University of Virginia's College at Wise. 

In his first season as head coach at Emory & Henry University, the Wasps were picked 10th in league. Hunter led the Wasps to a 9-2 overall (6-2 SAC) finish in second place in the South Atlantic Conference Mountain Division. The Wasps held an undefeated season (6-0) at Fred Selfe Stadium for the first time since going 5-0 in 1998. It was also the first time winning six home games since 1992. 

It is the first time in school history that Emory & Henry received votes in the AFCA Division II National Poll, beating two nationally-ranked teams. Additionally, the Wasps earned their first NCAA Division II Regional Ranking during the year.

Fifteen players were named to All-South Atlantic Conference Teams in which five of those players were named to the All-SAC Team. Additionally, Cam Abshire and Shawn Collins both received All-Super Region II and Don Hansen All-American honors. 

In 2024, Hunter returned as the Offensive Coordinator. In his guidance, the Wasps had the second-best scoring offense in the conference averaging 32.7 points per game and third-best total offense in the conference averaging 382.5 yards per game. Hunter had six All-South Atlantic Conference players including five on offense and one on special teams. Led by Cam Peoples over 1,000 all-purpose yards, Cam Abshire 1,000 yards receiving, and Jordan Jackson 1,000 yards rushing. 

In 2022, Hunter returned to Emory & Henry College as the Wide Receivers Coach. From 2022-2023, he coached a SAC All-Mountain Division First Team Wide Receiver, a Second-Team All-Mountain Wide Receiver and First-Team All-Mountain Return Specialist. In 2024, he was promoted to Offensive Coordinator & Wide Receivers Coach. 

In May 2019, Hunter was hired as the Wide Receivers Coach at The University of Virginia’s College at Wise. While at UVA Wise, he recruited Virginia and North Carolina and was Football Camp Coordinator, promoting and marketing each camp. He coached a 2021 All-Conference Wide Receiver, coached a Wide Receiver that signed with Panasonic Impulse, and Hunter was also part of the number one Team Passing Offense in 2021, with 271.5 yards per game. He served as the faculty advisor for Omega Psi Phi and was the recipient of the 2021 Unsung Hero Award at UVA Wise. 

Hunter began his collegiate coaching career in football in 2014 when he became the Running Backs Coach at Emory & Henry College. During this tenure, he was promoted to Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach at Emory in 2017; during this time he coached six All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Conference players, averaged 472 yards per game with 32.8 points per game, and averaged 420 yards per game and 37.3 points per game in the 2018-2019 season. 

In 2009, Hunter started his college career at the University of Virginia where he played in nine games as a true freshman. He transferred to James Madison University in 2010, where he was a captain of the football program his senior year. He graduated with a major in Kinesiology and a concentration in Sports Management. Quintin was a 4-star recruit coming out of high school in Orange, Virginia. 

Hunter is happily married to his wife, Kalen Hunter. The couple resides in Bristol, Virginia with their two dogs.
