Ferrum Men’s Basketball Outlasts Emory & Henry, 81-75, In Overtime Tuesday

FERRUM, Va. – The Ferrum College Men's Basketball Team (2-2) picked up a 81-75 overtime victory over Emory & Henry College (2-2) on Tuesday evening at Swartz Gymnasium.

The Wasps raced out to a 20-6 lead 7:50 into the contest, and held as much as a 17-point advantage in the first half (31-14). Ferrum went on a 15-9 run to close the half, trimming E&H's lead to single digits at 43-35.

After the break, Ferrum continued their run, scoring 15 of the first 22 point of the second frame to tie the contest at 50 with 13:00 left to go. The Wasps were able to get another 14-point lead with 7:51 on the clock but the Panthers reeled them back in to force the extra period.

Overtime was controlled by Ferrum as it shot three-for-seven from the floor en route to the six-point victory.

Emory & Henry was led by freshman guard Damian Edwards (Boone, N.C.) with a game-high 17 points while junior guard Kyle Sensabaugh (Columbus, Ohio) had 14 points and was four-for-four from three-point range. Junior guard Malcolm Green (Marshville, N.C.) and sophomore forwards Tyler Driver (Hazard, Ky.) and Charles Smith (Fayetteville, N.C.) each had 10 points on the night.

Ferrum was led by Daryl Hart and Nick English with 15 points apiece while Hart added seven rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocks. Marcus Mayo scored 14 points while Charles Warren had 13 points from off the bench.

The Wasps will enter Old Dominion Athletic Conference play on Saturday when they travel to Harrisonburg, Va. to visit Eastern Mennonite University. Tipoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
