LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Lynchburg College Men's Basketball Team (6-1, 1-0 ODAC) picked up 91-69 Old Dominion Athletic Conference victory over visiting Emory & Henry College (2-4, 0-2 ODAC) Wednesday evening at Turner Gymnasium.
The Wasps got out to a 16-8 lead at the 14:55 mark in the first half, but in effect only stirred the Hornets' nest as Lynchburg went on a 17-0 run for a 25-16 advantage. LC would be up by a 10-point margin 47-37 at the half despite allowing Emory & Henry to shoot 65 percent from the floor in the opening stanza.
After the break, E&H opened with four straight points to cut the Lynchburg lead to six, but the Hornets responded to push their advantage to 24 thanks to a 24-6 run that covered nearly seven minutes. The Wasps would never get any closer than 20 the rest of the way.
Lynchburg's Austin Chillemi led all players with 20 points and added seven rebounds while Nate Campbell had 18 points. Xavier Parham had seven points, eight assists and six steals while Brandan Connor had seven points and seven steals for the Hornets.
Emory & Henry was paced by sophomore forward Tyler Mullins (Hazard, Ky.) with 14 points, four rebounds and five assists and junior guard Kyle Sensabaugh (Columbus, Ohio) had 13 points and seven boards on the night. Junior forward Armando Murrell (Bronx, N.Y.) and sophomore forward Jorel Terrell (Port Saint Lucie, Fla.) had 11 and 10 points, respectively.
While both teams shot over 50 percent from the floor for the game, Emory & Henry shot 57.5 percent (23-for-40) and led the battle of the boards 30-26. The Wasps were plagued by turnovers, committing 30 to just 13 miscues for the Hornets.
Emory & Henry will return home on Saturday to face top-ranked Virginia Wesleyan College at 2:00 p.m. on Bob Johnson Court.
