Randolph-Macon Men’s Basketball Gets Past Emory & Henry, 78-58, Saturday

EMORY, Va. – The Randolph-Macon College Men's Basketball Team (13-3, 6-2 ODAC) hit 10 three-pointers and shot 48.1 percent from the field for the game en route to defeating Emory & Henry College (7-7, 1-5 ODAC) by a 78-58 score Saturday afternoon in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play. The contest also served as Alumni Saturday for Emory & Henry, which welcomed back Wasps from six different decades to Bob Johnson Court.

E&H got out to a 5-0 lead 2:46 into the contest and looked to be in control of the game until Randolph-Macon put together a 21-6 run that covered 8:50 to go up 27-16. The Yellow Jackets saw scoring from eight different players during the stretch.

After going into the break with a 38-27 lead, R-MC quickly extended their advantage to 14 early in the second half.  The Wasps then went on a 15-5 run to cut the margin to four points (48-44 at 11:22) but the Yellow Jackets responded with a 23-8 run to go up by 19 with just over four minutes remaining. Randolph-Macon would lead by as much as 22 down the stretch but E&H would score the final basket of the contest for the 78-58 score.

Randolph-Macon placed three scorers in double figures and was led by Adam Desgain with 15 points. Lamar Giggetts pitched in 14 points and nine rebounds and was eight-for-eight from the charity stripe. Andre Simon added 13 points and five rebounds while Trent Walker had four points and six assists.

Emory & Henry junior guard Malcolm Green (Marshville, N.C.) led all players with 16 points and had eight rebounds on the day while junior forward Armando Murrell (Brooklyn, N.Y.) recorded 15 points and eight rebounds of his own.

The Wasps will travel to Salem, Virginia on Monday night to take on the Maroons of Roanoke College. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
