Greensboro Men’s Basketball Outlasts Emory & Henry, 68-60, Wednesday Evening

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College Men's Basketball Team (13-7) avenged an early-season loss to Emory & Henry Wednesday evening, defeating the Wasps by a 68-60 score at the James G. Hanes Physical Education Building. The contest was the final non-conference game of the season for E&H.

Greensboro got out to a 8-2 lead early in the contest but Emory & Henry reeled off eight-straight points to take a 10-8 lead with 13:48 on the clock. The two teams would be tied at 18 before the Wasps got their biggest lead of the game at 18-22. The Pride went on an 11-4 run to close the half and go into the locker room with a 29-26 lead.

After the break, Greensboro was able to get its lead to 11 (42-31) at the 15:10 mark but an 11-2 run by E&H that covered five minutes closed the margin to 42-44. The Wasps would tie the contest at 50 with 6:22 remaining and the two teams would trade baskets until there was 2:32 remaining and the Pride scored nine straight points to take control of the game (67-57). Emory & Henry would score three of the last four points of the contest for the final 68-60 margin.

Greensboro was led by Luqman Tijani with 15 points and four rebounds. Chakiris Moss and Brock Moorman each had 12 points while T.J. Holman had 10 points. The Pride shot 51.9 percent (27-for-52) for the contest and had 34 points in the paint and scored 22 points off turnovers.

E&H junior guard Malcolm Green (Marshville, N.C.) led all scorers with 17 points on seven-for-14 shooting from the floor and pitched in a game-high six rebounds as well. Sophomore forward Tyler Mullins (Hazard, Ky.) had 15 points, five rebounds and three assists while sophomore forward Jorel Terrell (Port Saint Lucie, Fla.) chipped in eight points and five boards.

Emory & Henry will return to Old Dominion Athletic Conference play on Saturday afternoon when the Wasps travel to take on the Tigers of Hampden-Sydney College. Tipoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
