Hampden-Sydney Men’s Basketball Outruns Emory & Henry, 107-68, Saturday

HAMPDEN SYDNEY, Va. – The Hampden-Sydney College Men's Basketball Team (15-5, 10-3 ODAC) poured in 67 first-half points en route to defeating Emory & Henry College (9-12, 3-9 ODAC) Saturday afternoon in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action at S. Douglas Fleet Gymnasium.

The Tigers jumped out to a 12-0 lead in the first 3:22 of the contest and never looked back, building a lead that would grow to 39 (67-28) in the first half. E&H scored the final five points of the opening period for a 67-33 game going into the locker room. Harrison George scored all 12 of his points in the first half for H-SC.

Emory & Henry scored the first four points of the second half to cut the margin to 30, but that was as close as the Wasps would ever get. Hampden-Sydney would lead by as much as 40 points (105-65) late in the contest as they cruised to the 107-68 victory.

Though the Tigers only saw two players reach double figures, 11 different scorers for H-SC recorded seven or more points. Thirteen Tigers recorded double-digit minutes in the contest. Leon Hargrove led the way with 13 points on six-for-seven shooting to go along with George's 12 first-half points and seven assists. Hampden-Sydney shot 59.2 percent (42-for-71) for the game and hit seven-of-19 three-point attempts.

Emory & Henry was paced by sophomore forward Jorel Terrell (Port Saint Lucie, Fla.) with 14 points on seven-for-10 shooting from the floor. Junior guards Kyle Sensabaugh (Columbus, Ohio) and Malcolm Green (Marshville, N.C.) each had 12 points while junior forward Armando Murrell (Brooklyn, N.Y.) registered 10 points in the contest.

The Wasps will return to Bob Johnson Court on Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m., when they welcome the Maroons of Roanoke College for an ODAC contest.
