King Men's Basketball Defeats Emory & Henry, 90-63, In Exhibition Saturday Evening

EMORY, Va. - The King (Tenn.) College Men's Basketball Team picked up a 90-63 win over Emory & Henry College Saturday evening in exhibition at Bob Johnson Court at the John Rutledge King Center. The Tornado shot 48.3 percent (28-for-58) from the field in the victory as four players reached double-figures in scoring.

E&H got out to a 6-0 lead in the first 25 seconds of the contest on back-to-back threes from junior forwards Jorel Terrell (Port Saint Lucie, Fla.) and Tyler Mullins (Hazard, Ky.). King then went on a 20-2 run for the 20-8 advantage with 11:45 in the fist half. The Wasps were able to cut the margin to 25-17 with a 9-5 scoring spurt, but the Tornado would go into the half with a 13-point advantage (44-31).

King opened the second-half with an 18-16 run, going up 62-37 with 12:51 remaining, and never looked back as the Tornado put up 46 points after the intermission for the 90-63 exhibition win.

Drew Standifer led King with 18 points while Aaron Wheeler (17 points), Eddie Puccinini (13 points) and Logan Lyle (13 points) also reached double figures in scoring. James Scales had seven rebounds  while Michael Fortune dished-out four assists in the contest.

Junior guard Stephen Brown (Charleston, S.C.) led E&H with 23 points and nine rebounds while junior forward Charles Smith (Fayetteville, N.C.) tallied 12 points and five boards of his own. Mullins and Terrell each finished with nine points on the night.

Emory & Henry will open the regular season on Friday, November 16 when it travels to Lookout Mountain, Ga., to face Covenant College. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
