Emory & Henry Men’s Basketball Announces Coaching Staff For The 2012-13 Season

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Basketball Team has added Antwan VanBuren and Drew Scott to its coaching staff, Head Coach Paul Russo announced today. They will each help E&H continue its climb up the ladder in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference that was bugun in 2011-12 with the Wasps' breakout year.

VanBuren comes to E&H after serving as the Assistant Basketball Coach at Charlottesville High School in Charlottesville, Va. In addition to coaching at the high school level, VanBuren also served as Head Basketball Coach for East Coast Fusion, a nationally recognized AAU program.

A native of Charlottesville, Va., VanBuren is a 2009 graduate of Virginia State University with a bachelor's degree in sports management.

 Scott comes to Emory & Henry after spending the last two seasons as a Graduate Assistant at the University of Akron. During his time there, the Zips went 45-23, including two conference championships and a berth in the NCAA Division I Tournament.

Prior to his time at Akron, Scott attended Virginia Tech for his undergraduate degree. He graduated with a B.A. in Philosophy and a minor in Communications. Scott played on Virginia Tech's JV/Club team for three years, before being named the team's head coach for his final two seasons. He was also a member of the Scout Team for the Hokies' women's team, as well as a Student Assistant for the men's team during his senior year. Scott is a native of Gate City, Va., where he was a standout on the basketball and tennis courts for the Blue Devils.

Emory & Henry will tip off the regular season on Friday when it travels to Lookout Mountain, Ga., for a 7:00 p.m. matchup with Covenant College.
