Roanoke Men’s Basketball Handles Emory & Henry, 82-65, Wednesday In ODAC Action

SALEM, Va. – The Roanoke College Men's Basketball Team (8-10, 1-8 ODAC) built a 20-point first-half lead over Emory & Henry (3-13, 1-8 ODAC) Wednesday evening en route to winning, 82-65, at C. Homer Bast Gymnasium in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action.

The Maroons got out to an 11-0 lead 5:26 into the contest, but the Wasps battled back with a 12-4 run to make the score 15-12. Up 23-19 with 5:48 on the clock, Roanoke went on a 19-3 run for a 42-22 halftime lead.

Roanoke would lead by as much as 31 (62-31) midway through the second half, but the Wasps outscored the Maroons 34-20 over the last 12:14 of the game to close the gap to the 82-65 final margin.

Kwasi Amponsah led all scorers with 23 points and added five rebounds on 8-for-12 shooting. Daniel Eacho registered 11 points and 10 rebounds for the double-double while Julian Ramirez had 14 points, six assists, five rebounds and three steals.

As a team, the Maroons shot 55.1 percent (27-for-49) for the game and held a 48-40 rebounding advantage, scoring 32 points in the paint.

Emory & Henry freshman guard Myles Turner (Richmond, Va.) had 17 points and six rebounds as he hit three treys in the contest. Junior forward Tyler Mullins (Hazard, Ky.) added 11 points and four boards while senior forward Armando Murrell (Brooklyn, N.Y.), sophomore guard Tyler Driver (Alexandria, Va.) and freshman guard K.J. Lett (Manassas, Va.) each tallied seven points in the contest.

The Wasps shot just 21-for-74 (28.4 percent) for the contest despite forcing 27 turnovers and pulling down 19 offensive rebounds.

E&H will play host to Bridgewater College on Saturday afternoon at Bob Johnson Court. Tipoff for the ODAC contest is set for 2:00 p.m.
