Emory & Henry Men's Basketball Picked 11th In ODAC Coaches' Poll

SALEM, Va. - The Emory & Henry College Men's Basketball Team has been picked to finish 11th in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference this season, ODAC officials announced Thursday. The release came as part of the league's annual media day held on the site of the Salem Civic Center. The poll is voted on by the 12 head coaches in the league.

Randolph-Macon College is the league favorite, earning eight of the 12 first-place votes. Hampden-Sydney College (four first-place votes) is second while Virginia Wesleyan College and Guilford College are third and fourth, respectively.

Emory & Henry returns 10 players from last season's team that finished 4-21 with a 2-14 mark in league matches. The Wasps also welcome 12 new players to the roster in addition to David Willson, who took over the position of Head Coach this past May.

Among the returners for E&H are senior forwards Tyler Mullins (Hazard, Ky.) and Charles Smith (Fayetteville, N.C.). Also back for the Wasps are senior guard Malcolm Green (Marshville, N.C.) and sophomore guard Myles Turner (Richmond, Va.). Freshman guard Drew Henry (Sterling, Va.) and freshman forward Alex Jones (Lake Worth, Fla.) will make an immediate impact for Emory & Henry.

E&H will open the 2013-14 season with an exhibition game at Wofford College on Monday, November 11 at 7:00 p.m. The Wasps will have their first test of the regular season on Friday, November 15 against Huntingdon College in the Berry Invitational. That game is scheduled for a 6:00 p.m., tipoff.

Emory & Henry will have its first home game on Saturday, November 23 as Berry College will visit Bob Johnson Court for a 3:00 p.m. contest. The first ODAC contest on the slate for the Wasps will be on Saturday, November 30 when Virginia Wesleyan College makes the trip across the Commonwealth for a 2:00 p.m., game.
