Montreat Men’s Basketball Pulls Away From Emory & Henry, 82-68, Monday Evening

MONTREAT, N.C. – The Montreat College Men's Basketball Team (9-6) shot 54.4 percent from the field as it defeated visiting Emory & Henry College (2-8) by a 82-68 score Monday evening at McAlister Gym.

The Cavaliers got out to a 12-5 advantage at the 14:36 mark of the first half but the Wasps went on a 15-5 run to take a 20-17 lead with 8:43 to go before the break. Emory & Henry would put together an 11-2 run later in the period to go up 33-25, however Montreat finished the half with a 15-2 run for a 38-35 advantage at the intermission.

MC pushed its advantage to 53-40 with a 15-5 run in the first 5:55 of the second half. The Cavaliers led by as much as 20 down the stretch (80-60 with 2:09 remaining) however the Wasps closed the contest on an 8-2 run to make the final score 82-68.

Montreat placed three players in double figures led by Kerigan Farley with 20 points and six rebounds. La'Bris Adams had 18 points four assists and four steals while Lamar Seymore notched 12 points and eight boards. The Cavaliers were 31-for-57 for the game including a 16-for-28 (57.1%) in the second half.

Emory & Henry was paced by senior forward Tyler Mullins (Hazard, Ky.) as he tallied 14 points on four-for-six shooting, including a trio of three-pointers, and added five rebounds. Senior forward Charles Smith (Fayetteville, N.C.) registered 11 points and four boards while senior guard Malcolm Green (Marshville, N.C.) had 9 points off the bench.

Sophomore guard Kevin Anzenberger (Concord, N.C.) added eight points while freshman forward Stevan Urosevic (Čačak, SERBIA) posted four points, seven rebounds and three blocks. As a team, E&H shot just 38.7 percent (24-for-62) from the floor but hit six three-pointers and notched 37 points from off the bench.

The Wasps will return to Old Dominion Athletic Conference play after the New Year when they travel to Winchester, Va., for a 2:00 p.m., matchup with the Hornets of Shenandoah University.
